Cafe Associate (Part-time)

About The Position

The Cafe Associate prepares and serves food, beverages, candy, baked goods, and fudge while providing customer service in the Café and Fuzziwigs Candy Shop. The role may cover deli, food case, barista, grill, ice cream, baked goods, fudge, and other duties assigned by the Café Manager or Supervisor. Associates maintain knowledge of recipes and food products, meet production and customer deadlines, and follow food safety, receiving, storage, and cashier procedures. The position includes stocking, side work, cleaning workspaces and dining areas, maintaining equipment, and completing opening and closing procedures. Work requires following an assigned schedule with varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, including availability at least every other weekend or two weekends per month. Average hours are 20 per week. The role involves repetitive fudge-making tasks and physical work, including lifting and moving objects. Food may contain or contact common allergens.

Requirements

High school education, up to one month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be flexible to work the assigned schedule; weekday morning availability is required.
Must be available at least every other weekend or two weekends per month.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
Must follow safety procedures and perform job duties in a manner that minimizes injury risk.
Food may contain or come in contact with common allergens, including dairy, eggs, wheat, soybeans, tree nuts, peanuts, and fish.

Responsibilities

Prepare food, drinks, and ingredients, including candy, baked goods, and fudge, for sale to customers.
Perform Café and Fuzziwigs Candy Shop functions, including deli line, food case, barista, grill, ice cream, baked goods, fudge, and other duties assigned by the Café Manager and Supervisor.
Maintain working knowledge of Café recipes, beverages, and prepared foods.
Meet deadlines for fudge production and customer requests.
Follow Scheels, state, and local food safety guidelines.
Ensure products are received and stored according to Standard Operating Guidelines.
Follow Scheels Cashier Guidelines for Café registers.
Manage and support side work, stocking, daily and detailed cleaning schedules, machine and equipment cleaning, and opening and closing procedures.
Maintain an orderly and exceptionally clean personal workspace, surrounding areas, and dining areas.
Perform repetitive fudge production processes, including stirring, pulling, and cutting.
Speak effectively before groups of customers and employees.
Read and interpret operating and maintenance instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
Work the assigned schedule, which may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
