About The Position

The Heritage Community is a residential treatment program for adolescents ages 13–18 and operates the Rocky Mountain Café to prepare and serve meals to students and employees. The Cook supports the success of the kitchen by assisting at all posts in a fast-paced environment. The role includes preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch entrées and side dishes, preparing salad bar selections and other foods, serving entrées, washing dishes, and stocking supplies. The position is part-time, with negotiable workdays and an expectation of 20–30 hours per week; further schedule details will be disclosed during the interview.

Requirements

• Current Food Handler’s Permit, or willingness to obtain one upon hire.
• At least one year of previous kitchen experience.
• Proficiency and aptitude in cooking methods, equipment, and procedures.
• Ability to work as a team player.
• Good communication and listening skills to receive instructions and coordinate meal preparation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated maturity and good judgment.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Fluency and proficiency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
• Must complete onboarding with all necessary documents and cooperate with the process.

Responsibilities

• Set up Café workstations with the ingredients and equipment needed for food preparation.
• Prepare, cook, and portion breakfast and lunch entrées and side dishes.
• Prepare other food items, including desserts, salad bar selections, and dressings.
• Comply with food-safety requirements and keep the kitchen clean, sanitized, and orderly.
• Memorize and prepare special-diet meals as coordinated by the Dietitian and Nutrition Manager.
• Cook using various methods and equipment.
• Store food, stock items, equipment, and utensils properly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Manager.
• Assist with serving entrées, dishwashing, and stocking supplies.
