About The Position

The CAD Technician III – Federal prepares, updates, and maintains accurate Inside Plant and Outside Plant telecommunications drawings in accordance with engineering standards, project requirements, and documentation procedures. Working closely with engineering teams, the technician translates field notes, design inputs, and technical information into clear, compliant AutoCAD drawings and supporting project documentation.

Requirements

• At least four years of recent drafting experience using AutoCAD 2020 or later.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for documentation and tracking.
• Ability to learn, interpret, and apply technical information, standards, and procedures accurately and efficiently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and project teams.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance and ability to maintain eligibility for access to classified information, including successful completion of any required government security reinvestigation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting mapping functions using ArcView or comparable geographic information system tools.
• Ability to develop Lisp or VBA routines to improve drawing efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance documentation accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise, and maintain Inside Plant drawings, including floor plans and rack elevations, and Outside Plant drawings, including fiber route and detail drawings, using AutoCAD and engineering field notes.
• Develop and update project documentation in Microsoft Excel, including cable running lists, tables of contents, revision logs, and other required tracking materials.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other project stakeholders to support drawing deliverables, schedule commitments, and estimated labor requirements.
• Support organizational objectives, follow established procedures, and communicate project status, issues, and documentation needs in a timely manner.
