About The Position

The Assistant Manager Trainee is responsible for establishing and maintaining customer service and overseeing c-store operations, including gas pumps. The role supports maximum sales and profitability through merchandise and inventory management, employee management, and control of operating costs and shrink. The position requires supporting staffing needs, covering shifts, and being available for any shift required by store demands.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Must be able to communicate with customers and work in a busy environment.
Must be able to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, and lift up to 45 pounds.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
Must be able to obtain a Non-Gaming card.
Must obtain Gaming Registration with the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Must have a valid Health Card.
Must have a valid Alcohol Awareness Card.
Must be able to read and interpret English documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Must be able to read and communicate verbally in English; written English communication may also be required.
Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

Provide a customer-friendly environment and maintain high operating standards so that customers receive outstanding service.
Control shrink and expenses, and schedule employees according to management guidelines.
Maintain appropriate merchandise stock levels, ensure perishables are within their selling dates, keep the selling floor stocked, and maintain appropriate signage.
Ensure employees comply with policies and procedures, receive proper training, and maintain current equipment certifications as required.
Ensure money handling follows company procedures and employees are trained to use POS and other store equipment to minimize errors and cashier shortages.
Maintain company standards to meet or exceed Terrible Herbst Operational Excellence Programs.
Prepare Daily Activity Reports accurately and on time.
Prepare and complete the daily fuel survey.
Continually evaluate and manage employee issues and performance.
Cover open shifts as designated by the C-Store Manager.
Travel to other district locations to support staffing needs.
Be available to work any shift required by store demands and be on call to cover sick calls.
