Shores Restaurant Busser
About The Position
The Busser assists servers in providing friendly and professional service to members and guests. This position supports the Dining Room Team and helps shape guests’ overall impression of the restaurant and the quality of their dining experience. The role includes clearing and sorting reusable items and waste, setting tables, providing water and replenishing beverages, maintaining restaurant and service areas, completing side work, and assisting with room service and tray pickup. The employee is expected to anticipate guest needs and provide attentive, professional service in accordance with the company’s Signature Service standards. The employee must obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification. The work involves frequent interaction with guests and restaurant staff, physical activity including standing, walking, reaching, and lifting, and exposure to a range of restaurant and kitchen conditions. Shifts are generally rotated, and hours worked depend on business needs.
Requirements
- Less than a high school education, up to one month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively to customers, clients, and coworkers.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English with customers.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s, including using American money and units of weight, volume, and distance.
- Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions and handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
- Ability to meet the described physical demands, including prolonged standing, walking, frequent reaching, and lifting or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Responsibilities
- Collect table service, paper, leftover food, and other waste; sort and dispose of materials in appropriate containers and move reusable items to the kitchen or storage.
- Inspect and sort items at dish-cleaning or linen-collection areas according to their characteristics.
- Set tables as required.
- Provide drinking water and replenish beverages upon guest or server request.
- Anticipate guest needs and provide friendly, attentive, professional service.
- Maintain service and restaurant areas as required.
- Complete assigned side work, including preparation, setup, and closing tasks.
- Provide prompt, thorough room service to hotel guests and pick up trays.
- Assist servers in meeting guests’ needs and expectations.
- Follow the company’s Signature Service standards and requirements.
- Obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
