Brand Designer

Conversion•San Francisco, CA
•$150,000 - $200,000•Onsite

About The Position

Conversion is hiring a Brand Designer to own the company’s visual identity from end to end and build a scalable design system. The role is focused on brand and identity work, rather than product UI or coding, and covers how Conversion looks and feels across every medium. The designer will develop the identity system—including logo, typography, color, grid, motion language, and guidelines—and bring it to life across web, social, launch creative, presentations, and collateral. They will lead launch work from concept through delivery, including launch videos, webpages, assets, and the visual story that connects them. They will also set the craft bar for visual work, create systems that help the team move quickly, and track how creative performs so the brand can be iterated over time. The role is in person five days per week in San Francisco. The hiring manager evaluates portfolios first and is looking for someone who can explain the problem behind their identity work, what they created, and the reasoning behind their decisions.

Requirements

  • A portfolio that demonstrates identity work built from the ground up, with the ability to explain the problem, the work, and the reasoning behind design decisions.
  • Fluency with Figma, Illustrator, After Effects, Lottie or Figma Motion, and Claude Design, and the ability to learn new tools quickly.
  • Roughly 1 to 7 years of experience as an in-house brand owner.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, including typography and pixel-level craft.
  • Ability to take projects from concept to completion—including typography, layout, and motion—with limited direction.
  • A clear, opinionated point of view on typography, color, layout, and composition, and the ability to defend design decisions.
  • Ability to collaborate with product, sales, and marketing.
  • Interest in owning a brand rather than executing a portion of someone else’s brand.
  • Willingness to work in person five days per week in San Francisco.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience shaping a recognizable brand identity rather than only executing an existing identity.
  • Range across identity systems, landing pages, launch videos, and decks, maintaining a consistent quality bar across mediums.
  • Personal creative work outside the job, such as a side project, art Instagram, vlog, or self-initiated brand.
  • Strong opinions about advertising and what makes creative work effective.
  • Interest in a high-intensity, in-person team environment.
  • Care for craft in every artifact, including frames, thumbnails, and slides.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop Conversion’s visual identity, including its logo, typography, color, grid, motion language, and usage guidelines.
  • Define the look and feel of Conversion across web, social, decks, collateral, and launch creative.
  • Lead launch work end to end, including launch videos, webpages, assets, and the visual story tying them together.
  • Set the craft bar for visual work produced by the company and its partners.
  • Build brand systems and guidelines that help the team move quickly and maintain consistency without routing every piece through the designer.
  • Create motion and video work where needed, including launch films, product moments, and social cuts.
  • Track what is resonating and iterate based on feedback and results.
  • Work across product, sales, and marketing while maintaining creative conviction.
