About The Position

DSV is looking for a Branch Manager, Freight Brokerage to lead the operational and commercial performance of an assigned DSV Road branch. This role is a great fit for someone who knows domestic freight brokerage, has experience leading and developing people, and enjoys balancing team leadership with customer relationships, business growth, and operational performance. You’ll lead an experienced branch team while staying closely connected to the day-to-day brokerage business, including customers, carriers, pricing, capacity, and market opportunities. You’ll help drive branch financial performance, develop existing and new customer relationships, support profitable growth, and create an environment where employees have clear expectations, accountability, support, and opportunities to develop. Success in this role requires someone who is approachable, commercially minded, and comfortable building relationships across employees, customers, carriers, and business partners. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in domestic freight brokerage, with hands-on knowledge of brokerage operations, customers, carriers, pricing, capacity, and freight markets.
  • 2 to 4 years of people management experience, including experience providing leadership, coaching, feedback, performance management, and employee development.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence others, take ownership, and contribute beyond individual responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting business development, customer growth, account expansion, or other commercial activities preferred.
  • Exposure to financial and operational performance metrics, including revenue, gross margin, productivity, or profitability.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused domestic transportation or brokerage environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of domestic freight brokerage operations and the relationship between customers, brokers, and motor carriers.
  • Commercial mindset with an interest in developing customer relationships, identifying opportunities, and growing the business.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to coach, influence, motivate, and build credibility with others.
  • Ability to lead and develop employees while taking responsibility for team performance and employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support branch operations to achieve financial, operational, service, and growth objectives.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, coaching, and support to branch employees while fostering accountability, collaboration, and employee development.
  • Build strong relationships with employees and create an approachable leadership environment that encourages communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.
  • Own branch Profit & Loss (P&L) performance, including revenue growth, gross margin, expense management, and overall profitability.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the branch through new business development, expansion of existing customer relationships, and increased market presence.
  • Maintain an active, customer-facing presence and develop strong relationships with current and prospective customers.
  • Partner with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to develop domestic transportation solutions that meet customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Apply knowledge of domestic freight brokerage, carrier markets, capacity, pricing, and customer needs to support effective business decisions.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, monitor results, provide feedback, and address performance concerns when necessary.
  • Analyze operational and financial metrics to identify trends, improve productivity, enhance service, and support profitable growth.
  • Support employee development through regular communication, coaching, feedback, and identification of growth opportunities.
  • Partner with regional and corporate leadership on branch objectives, business opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers and other business partners to support service performance and capacity needs.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, customer service, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor freight market conditions, customer trends, and competitive activity to identify opportunities and risks impacting the branch.
  • Lead branch meetings and participate in operational and commercial planning activities.
  • Support branch staffing, hiring, onboarding, employee engagement, and retention efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and applicable transportation industry practices.
  • Support special projects, business initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
