Bistro Server (AM)
About The Position
Serve food and/or beverages to guests in a courteous, friendly manner and in accordance with established brand and hotel guest-service and sustainability standards. The role supports restaurant operations by preparing the service area, taking and processing orders and payments, communicating guest dietary needs to the kitchen, preparing food and beverages when needed, and maintaining clean and stocked work areas. Servers may also perform bartending or bussing duties during staffing shortages or peak periods. The position is at the Holiday Inn & Suites San Mateo - San Francisco SFO in San Mateo, California. The stated growth path is Banquet Server/Captain, Restaurant Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, or Banquet Manager.
Requirements
- Previous food and beverage experience or equivalent training is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to work a schedule that varies and may include holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, push, lift up to 25 pounds, bend, and reach.
Responsibilities
- Set up necessary supplies, food, and beverages at the beginning of the shift and keep the work area stocked.
- Take customer orders, enter orders, collect payment, and provide change.
- Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
- Prepare food, coffee, and other beverages, including alcoholic beverages, when necessary.
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food, when necessary.
- Perform other food and beverage duties, such as bartending and bussing, during staffing shortages or peak periods.
- Count the bank at the end of the shift, complete cashier reports, resolve discrepancies, drop off receipts, and secure the bank according to established policies.
- Clean equipment and work areas and lock equipment doors as applicable.
- Follow state, federal, and corporate requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
- Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program.
- Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment, and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
