About the position
Voyager Therapeutics is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist with expertise in computational biology and bioinformatics to join their Bioinformatics and Data Sciences Group. The successful candidate will lead research and operational efforts at the intersection of AAV engineering, bioinformatics, and data science. They will work collaboratively with AAV biologists, laboratory scientists, computational biologists, and machine learning engineers on various scientific problems and cross-functional research projects. The primary responsibilities include designing and implementing computational tools, analyzing and interpreting data, collaborating with experimental scientists, and streamlining data analysis processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of computational tools and analyses of studies/assays
- Interpret results, provide a project outlook, and communicate findings
- Maintain active program timelines
- Process, analyze, and interpret data for various biological and clinically relevant projects
- Generate statistically motivated and computationally driven hypotheses
- Collaborate closely with experimental scientists to effectively utilize data for high-level impact
- Partner with Bioinformatics and Data Science teams to streamline and standardize data analysis
- Use workflow management tools (e.g., Nextflow) to scale up analysis in the cloud environment (AWS)
- Prototype internal workflows and transition them to production pipelines
- Implement data integrity and code/pipeline review processes
- Work directly with the scientific team and contribute to cross-functional research projects.
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in Bioinformatics
- Strong technical background in computational biology and bioinformatics
- Experience in utilizing and developing novel methods for engineering AAV vectors
- Ability to lead research and operation efforts at the intersection of AAV engineering, Bioinformatics, and Data Science
- Proficiency in designing and implementing computational tools and analyses of studies/assays
- Ability to interpret data and provide project outlook
- Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate findings
- Collaboration with experimental scientists to utilize data for high-level impact
- Familiarity with workflow management tools such as Nextflow
- Experience in scaling up data analysis in a cloud environment (AWS)
- Ability to prototype internal workflows and transition to production pipelines
- Knowledge of data integrity and code/pipeline review processes.
