About The Position

AlphaBEST Education is hiring a Group Leader for its before- and after-school programs in Durban School. The programs provide extended-day, summer, and enrichment activities intended to inspire and engage students in a fun, safe environment. The role involves leading students through curriculum activities and helping create supportive, inclusive experiences while working with children, families, teammates, and school staff.

The schedule is 7:00–8:45 a.m. and 2:45–6:00 p.m., with pay of $17.00 per hour. The position may suit students studying education, child development, psychology, social work, recreation, or youth development. AlphaBEST describes the role as an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification.
• Ability to work in a classroom setting with regular bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Enjoy working with children in a structured, high-energy environment.
• Take child safety seriously and follow procedures closely.
• Be flexible, reliable, and ready to help wherever needed.

• Studying education, child development, psychology, social work, recreation, or youth development.

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of students through daily curriculum activities, including World Languages, STEAM, Fitness, Maker, and Arts.
• Make child safety the top priority and follow safety procedures.
• Keep the space clean and organized.
• Help create an environment where children feel supported and included.
• Build strong relationships with teammates, children, families, and school staff.
