About The Position

The Bartender/Server is an hourly tipped Food & Beverage position at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center. The role serves beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner to support guest satisfaction. It also prepares beverages for other servers and acts as cashier for the lounge. The position includes welcoming guests, taking and preparing drink orders, maintaining bar setup and supplies, handling cash and guest charges, securing beverages and equipment, taking room-service orders by phone, entering orders into the point-of-sale register, and maintaining accountability for beverages served. The role also involves cleaning, following hotel safety, security, emergency, and company procedures, maintaining a neat and groomed appearance, assisting other Beverage Personnel, and performing related duties as requested by a supervisor or manager. The hotel operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and operational demands may vary shift days, start times, and weekly hours.

Requirements

Knowledge of State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations concerning service to minors and intoxicated guests.
Current Food Handler Card.
Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count the bank, prepare cash drops, total other charges, and understand portion sizes.
Basic English writing skills to complete requisitions and vouchers.
Manual dexterity to use a knife for garnishes, handle glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead for stock.
Basic English-language ability to understand customer inquiries and communicate simple instructions.
Ability to understand and apply written product-labeling instructions for safe use of products and processes.
Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
Ability to operate beverage equipment such as a coffee maker.
Ability to transport up to 30 pounds through a crowded room continuously throughout a shift; lifting up to 30 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk constantly, with frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.

Responsibilities

Greet guests courteously and in a friendly manner, promote and document drink orders, and mix, garnish, and present drinks according to standard recipes and portion controls.
Maintain the daily bar setup and requisition and stock beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce based on projected needs.
Maintain stock, prepare and store fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables to ensure product quality.
Receive cash, make change, verify charges, record transactions, ensure vouchers are properly completed, and balance monies.
Lock up and store beverages, food, and equipment; deposit cash drops and secure the bank.
Answer the bar phone within three rings and take room-service orders correctly and courteously.
Enter orders into the point-of-sale register and create checks for guests and personnel guests, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability for beverages served.
Perform general cleaning using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned and adhere to health standards.
Adhere to company policies and safety and security procedures; know fire prevention and emergency procedures; use protective equipment; and report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage, or loss to a supervisor.
Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance according to team-member handbook standards.
Assist other Beverage Personnel as needed and perform related duties as requested by a supervisor or manager.
