Barista (Full Time)
About The Position
The Barista prepares and serves coffee, espresso drinks, and related food and beverage items, including customer and catering orders. The role follows standard measures, recipes, HACCP guidelines, and food-service quality standards. The Barista interacts courteously with customers and coworkers, supports customer satisfaction, and serves customers quickly and efficiently. The position is based at BNY, 500 Ross Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The schedule is full time, with days varying and hours between 6:00 a.m. and 5:15 p.m.; further details are provided at interview.
Requirements
- Barista experience.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience with a manual espresso machine.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes.
- Enter orders accurately into the POS device and accept cash and charge payments.
- Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness in the service area.
- Maintain proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures, and follow HACCP standards.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
- Prepare food using approved recipes and prescribed production standards.
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service.
- Thoroughly clean equipment and the workstation before moving to other assignments.
- Greet customers courteously and interact with them to support customer satisfaction.
- Relay relevant customer concerns to supervisors.
- Serve customers quickly and efficiently and prevent delays in serving lines.
- Understand daily menu items and explain them accurately to customers.
- Use selling techniques and good communication to assist customers with purchasing decisions.
- Merchandise display foods attractively according to standards and serve food neatly and attractively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
