About The Position
The Barista prepares and serves coffee and espresso drinks, along with related food and beverage items. The role follows HACCP guidelines and food-service standards, maintains clean and orderly service areas and equipment, and provides friendly, courteous customer service. The position is based at the Inova East Side Coffee Shop in Fairfax, Virginia. It is full time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a fixed pay rate of $20.00 per hour. One year of previous barista experience is required.
Requirements
- One year of previous barista experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes.
- Enter orders accurately into the POS device and accept cash and charge payments.
- Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining a clean service area.
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, serving temperatures, and compliance with HACCP standards.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
- Prepare food using approved recipes and prescribed production standards.
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service.
- Thoroughly clean equipment and the workstation before leaving the area for other assignments.
- Greet customers courteously and interact with them to ensure satisfaction.
- Relay relevant customer concerns to supervisors.
- Serve customers quickly and efficiently and prevent delays in serving lines.
- Understand daily menu items and explain them accurately to customers.
- Use selling techniques, communicate with customers, and assist with buying decisions.
- Merchandise display foods attractively and serve food neatly according to standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
