BARISTA (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Barista prepares and serves coffee, espresso drinks, and related food and beverage items, following standard measures, approved recipes, HACCP guidelines, and food-service quality standards. The role includes accurately entering orders and processing cash and charge payments, maintaining clean and orderly service areas and equipment, and ensuring food is presented attractively, portioned correctly, and held at proper serving temperatures. The Barista greets and serves customers courteously and efficiently, explains menu items, supports customers in making purchasing decisions, and relays relevant customer concerns to supervisors. The position may also involve preparing espresso orders for catering and performing other assigned duties. This is a full-time position at Bon Secours St Francis Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. The stated schedule is Sunday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with rotating weekends; further details are provided during the interview.
Requirements
- Previous barista experience is preferred.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes.
- Enter orders accurately into the POS device and accept cash and charge payments.
- Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining a clean service area.
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures, following HACCP standards.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
- Prepare food using approved recipes and prescribed production standards.
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service.
- Thoroughly clean equipment and the workstation before leaving the area for other assignments.
- Greet customers courteously and interact with them to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Relay relevant customer concerns to supervisors.
- Serve customers quickly and efficiently and prevent delays in serving lines.
- Understand daily menu items and explain them accurately to customers.
- Use selling techniques and good communication to assist customers with buying decisions.
- Merchandise display foods attractively and serve food neatly according to standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
