About The Position

The Bar Back is responsible for supporting bartenders by ensuring the bar is stocked, clean, and prepared for service. This role involves preparing garnishes, restocking beverages and supplies, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with inventory. The Bar Back also plays a part in customer service by creating a friendly atmosphere, taking orders, and serving drinks and food as needed. Additionally, they are responsible for adhering to alcohol service regulations, managing house banks, and contributing to a team effort.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must meet all knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • No felony, theft, or stealing convictions.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Knowledge of basic math and arithmetic.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to learn restaurant operations and food service principles.
  • Ability to learn bartending and bar maintenance operations and customer service.
  • Ability to learn all bar items and liquors.
  • Ability to learn POS systems.
  • Ability to create a friendly atmosphere and demonstrate excellent customer service.
  • Ability to operate a cash register.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
  • Ability to learn all local and state alcohol beverage laws.

Responsibilities

  • Fill ice for all the wells.
  • Prepare fruit trays and ensure backup garnishes are available.
  • Restock the bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, juices, etc., rotating products.
  • Check draught beers to ensure they are working and not empty.
  • Manage trash cans and towels, removing trash as needed.
  • Ensure the bar is clean before opening.
  • Maintain all beverage dispensing units and easy bars, ensuring they are full and maintained.
  • Assist bartenders with inventory of the bar and all supplies.
  • Maintain all recyclables and place them in the proper location.
  • Empty ash trays as needed.
  • Assure all coolers are on and in working order.
  • Promote positive customer relations, greet customers, and create a friendly atmosphere.
  • Promote and document orders for drinks, reciting selections of call and premium brands as requested from memory.
  • Take orders from customers in a prompt and friendly manner.
  • Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes.
  • Prepare and serve cocktails and other beverages accurately and without waste according to customer specifications.
  • Input orders at the point of sale, create checks for each customer/party/server, and maintain accountability of all beverages served.
  • Present an accurate check to guests in a timely fashion, thank patrons, and invite them to return.
  • Clean up after customers at the bar and maintain an orderly and clean work area at all times.
  • Maintain proper and adequate bar setup.
  • Wash glassware and utensils after each use.
  • Serve food to customers seated at the bar as requested.
  • Check identification of customers to ensure they meet age requirements for alcohol and tobacco purchases.
  • Determine when a customer has had too much alcohol.
  • Order and maintain liquor and bar supplies; place orders with outside vendors for bar supplies as directed.
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Safeguard casino monies by balancing the house bank at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Follow guidelines regarding alcohol service, safety, and customer service according to established regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to a team effort and accomplish related results as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
