About The Position

The Bar Back supports bartenders and helps keep The Wiseguy Lounge’s high-volume bar operating smoothly. The role includes assisting with craft cocktails and bourbon service, preparing garnishes, maintaining and restocking the bar, and providing a welcoming guest experience. The Bar Back must serve alcohol responsibly, follow health, sanitation, and safety procedures, and use sound judgment when monitoring guests and refusing service when needed. Weekend and late-night availability is required, including opening and closing duties.

Ability to learn cash register software.
Must comply with state laws regarding the legal service of alcohol and be of legal age to serve alcohol.
Weekend and late-night availability is required.
Able to stand for prolonged periods while preparing drinks.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds using proper techniques to prevent injury.
Must be of legal drinking age or older.
Advanced bartending skills and abilities.
Minimum of one year of related experience.

Nice To Haves

Completion of mixology, bar-keeping, or other related training is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service by greeting and thanking guests, engaging with them, and building rapport.
Learn regular guests’ names and orders and recommend craft cocktails and bourbons to walk-in guests.
Assist bartenders in preparing craft cocktails and serving bourbon.
Keep the area behind the bar clean and organized, including washing glassware and restocking supplies.
Keep the bar stocked, organized, and running smoothly in a high-volume environment.
Prepare fruit and other garnishes before opening.
Attractively display glasses and liquor bottles.
Serve alcohol responsibly in compliance with state regulations.
Use proper judgment and refuse service to intoxicated or disruptive patrons when necessary.
Follow health, sanitation, safety procedures, and protocols.
Open and close the store and monitor guests and safe practices.
Work late nights and weekends, ensuring the bar is ready for opening and closing.
