About The Position

The Wiseguy Lounge is seeking a Bar Back to support its award-winning bourbon bar, which offers craft cocktails, rotating craft beers, and an exclusive bourbon selection. The role supports bartenders and helps deliver an excellent guest experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Bar Back helps prepare drinks, keeps the bar stocked and organized, prepares garnishes, maintains cleanliness and sanitation, and supports safe opening and closing operations. The position requires late-night and weekend availability and responsible alcohol service in accordance with applicable state regulations.

Requirements

• Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly or argumentative patrons.
• Ability to learn cash register software.
• Must comply with state laws regarding the legal service of alcohol.
• Must be of legal drinking age or older.
• Minimum of one year of related experience.
• Advanced bartending skills and abilities.
• Able to stand for prolonged periods while preparing drinks.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds using proper techniques to prevent injury.
• Weekend and late-night availability is required.

• Completion of mixology, bar-keeping, or other related training.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level customer service by greeting and thanking guests, engaging with them, and building rapport.
• Learn regular guests’ names and orders and recommend items from the craft cocktail and bourbon menu to walk-in guests.
• Assist bartenders with preparing craft cocktails and serving bourbon.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization behind the bar, including washing glassware and restocking supplies.
• Keep the bar stocked, organized, and running smoothly in a high-volume environment.
• Prepare fruit and other garnishes before opening.
• Display glasses and liquor bottles attractively.
• Serve alcohol responsibly in compliance with state regulations and refuse service when appropriate to intoxicated or disruptive patrons.
• Follow health, sanitation, safety practices, and protocols.
• Open and close the store and monitor guests and safe practices.
• Work late nights and weekends and ensure the bar is ready for opening and closing.
