About The Position

The Banquet Server ensures quality customer service during events and banquets. The role involves setting up assigned tables, retrieving and serving beverages and food orders according to hotel specifications and group requirements, and maintaining the cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment. The server helps provide a positive guest experience by responding to guest needs, handling complaints, and sharing accurate information about hotel services and local attractions.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate satisfactorily with guests, management, and co-workers so they understand.
• Meet the minimum age requirement for serving alcoholic beverages.
• High school graduation or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in banquet operations and/or hospitality.
• Some college.
• ServSafe and/or food safety training.
• Alcohol awareness training, such as TIPS.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
• Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.

Responsibilities

• Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required by business operations.
• Maintain food and beverage safety and quality according to hotel, Shaner, and franchise specifications.
• Greet guests as they arrive and assist them with seating.
• Take and retrieve alcoholic beverage orders, using suggestive selling techniques when specified by function requirements.
• Set up assigned tables and serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverages according to departmental standards and function requirements.
• Retrieve and serve beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications and group requirements.
• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, acknowledge guests, and maintain positive guest relations.
• Be familiar with hotel services, features, and local attractions and activities to respond accurately to guest inquiries.
• Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.
• Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned stations and service areas.
• Maintain the cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
