About The Position

USC Hospitality serves thousands of students, athletes, faculty, and staff, as well as visitors, through its fine dining restaurants and residential dining facilities. The team is led by executive chefs and directors dedicated to providing nourishing and wholesome meals. The Banquet Server role is crucial in ensuring a consistent and professional delivery of customer service, embodying the values and work ethic of the USC Hospitality team and serving as a positive reflection of USC's commitment to Trojan principles.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience.
  • Knowledge of food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Presents oneself professionally, in line with hotel environment.
  • Demonstrate, through ideas, words and actions, a strong commitment to USC’s Unifying Values.
  • Valid CA driver's license required.
  • Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.
  • A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years in a high volume restaurant operation.
  • Knowledge of craft beers.
  • Experience in a gastropub environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional delivery of food and beverage service to faculty, staff, students and guests.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and provide suggestions to customers based on established menus.
  • Provide basic hot and cold food and beverage preparation service from recipes.
  • Serve food and beverages to customers.
  • Check food and beverage orders for accuracy before they are presented to customers.
  • Maintain established presentation standards for food and beverages.
  • Attend to customers during their dining experiences and provide excellent customer service.
  • Conduct service transactions.
  • Accept and process payments for food and beverages in compliance with cash handling policies and procedures, and university and department guidelines.
  • Stock and maintain all supplies, food, items, and utensils.
  • Assist in set-up and break-down of dining room/event.
  • Deliver food items to various locations on university campus and offsite catering events.
  • Maintain cleanliness of facilities.
  • Bus tables, as necessary.
  • Assist in kitchen sanitation program.
  • Comply with standard food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Adhere to department service standards and to all health, safety, and university rules and regulations.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • Report to station, ready to work at the time work assignment is scheduled to begin.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
