About The Position

Westwood Country Club is a premier family-oriented athletic club located in central Austin that provides a variety of quality services and activities for the recreation and dining needs of members. The Banquet Server will assist with setup, service, and strike for all events assigned and ensure member/guest satisfaction and presentation are consistently attained. A successful Banquet Server will provide prompt and courteous service to all guests, encouraging guests to return which will generate repeat business. This is a non-exempt hourly position; work schedule will include nights, weekends, and holidays based on scheduled events or club necessity. Work status is Casual with flexible hours without guaranteed minimum number of hours per week.

Requirements

  • Maintain a courteous, professional demeanor, and have a friendly, caring, and helpful attitude with clients, and club staff.
  • Must be dependable and punctual, with a commitment to arriving on time.
  • Ability to both give and take direction in a positive manner.
  • Food Handlers and TABC Certifications are required for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a server in a country club, resort, hotel and high-end restaurant strongly preferred.
  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • Must be 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages and have a good understand of the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to proper service rules, grooming, hygiene standards and uniform policies.
  • Maintain all required certifications (Food Handler's Permits and TABC Permit) and ensure they remain current at all times in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Attend and actively listen during the pre-shift meeting conducted by the Banquet Captain to understand the event details, timeline, service expectations, guest needs, and service duty assignments.
  • Responsible for serving food and beverages and for clearing dishes, glassware, trash, and other debris before, during, and after the food service periods of the event as instructed by the Banquet Captain.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests. Listen to guests concerns, referring complaints to a supervisor, and maintaining a positive rapport with hosts and guests.
  • Perform set up and breakdown of banquet areas instructed by Banquet Captain to including but not limited to tables, chairs, linen, service-ware, glassware, buffets, stations, and other duties assigned. Reset banquet room according to Banquet Captains specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function as well as sanitation of the banquet areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended, and handle with care. Polish all silver items prior to opening buffet station, clean all items thoroughly after event and store in proper place(s). Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
