About The Position

The Banquet Captain oversees food and beverage service, banquet setup and cleanup, and supports the planning and execution of banquet functions. The role works with guests, club members, and internal teams to ensure service consistency and address event needs. The position reports to the Banquet Manager or Banquet Director.

Requirements

Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills to interact with staff.
Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
Some wine knowledge.
Knowledge of appropriate table settings and serviceware.
Ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to perform effectively under pressure for extended periods while maintaining professionalism.
Prior banquet department or à la carte experience required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree, and to reach, handle, feel, talk, hear, and see.

Prior food service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise food and beverage service to ensure consistency throughout banquets.
Assist with planning, organizing, and executing banquet functions.
Supervise banquet room setup and cleanup.
Greet clients in charge and respond to requests.
Speak at pre-event roll call meetings to inform staff about event details and expectations.
Prepare banquet checks for signature.
Attend mandatory meetings.
Supervise assigned side work, including replenishing condiments and restocking banquet cabinet supplies.
Supervise general cleaning tasks using standard hotel products and adhere to health standards.
Follow state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations regarding service to minors and intoxicated guests.
Check with Facilities, Catering, and Culinary regarding last-minute changes.
