About The Position

The Bakery Department Clerk supports the bakery department by preparing, pricing, dating, wrapping or bagging, and merchandising bakery products. The role involves maintaining attractive displays and cases, handling special orders, and helping guests by providing knowledgeable, courteous service. The clerk works collaboratively with department and store team members, follows company policies and directives, and develops product and job-related knowledge through training and education. The position also supports product quality, cost control, sales, and loss prevention.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty accurately while maintaining a high level of productivity.
Knowledge of bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients, or the ability to develop that knowledge.
Ability to price, date, wrap or bag, recognize, and merchandise bakery products.

Responsibilities

Build knowledge and skills through training and education for self and other team members.
Price, date, wrap, or bag bakery products according to department and store policies.
Recognize product quality and distinguish among different bakery products.
Fill, arrange, rotate, and merchandise displays and display cases in the Bakery Department.
Clearly and accurately price and code-date bakery products.
Receive special orders properly and use suggestive selling when appropriate.
Maintain attractive and appealing cases and displays to support sales.
Maintain product quality and control costs to maximize sales and profits and minimize losses.
Learn bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients to serve guests and answer questions.
