About The Position

The Bakery Department Clerk supports bakery department operations by serving customers courteously and helping maintain an appealing, well-stocked display. The role involves pricing, dating, wrapping or bagging, recognizing product quality, arranging and rotating bakery products, and handling special orders. The clerk uses product knowledge to answer customer questions and may use suggestive selling to support sales. The position also emphasizes teamwork, communication, compliance with company policies, continued learning, and maintaining product quality and cost control.

Requirements

• Ability to perform essential duties accurately while maintaining a high level of productivity.
• Knowledge of bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients to assist customers.
• Ability to price, date, wrap or bag, recognize the quality of, arrange, rotate, and merchandise bakery products.
• Ability to receive special orders and use suggestive selling methods when possible.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.

• Fill, arrange, rotate, and merchandise bakery displays and display cases.
• Price and code-date bakery products clearly and accurately.
• Receive special orders properly and use suggestive selling methods when possible.
• Maintain attractive and appealing cases and displays to support sales.
• Maintain product quality and cost control to maximize sales and profits and minimize losses.
• Know bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients to serve customers and answer their questions.
