About The Position
The Bakery Department Clerk supports bakery department operations by preparing, pricing, dating, wrapping or bagging, and merchandising bakery products. The role requires recognizing product quality and distinguishing among bakery products, maintaining attractive displays, and serving guests with knowledge of bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients. The clerk contributes to customer relations, department morale, teamwork, and efforts to maximize sales and profits while minimizing losses. Requirements
- Ability to perform each essential duty accurately while maintaining a high level of productivity.
- Knowledge of bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients to assist guests and answer questions.
- Ability to recognize product quality and distinguish among different bakery products.
- Ability to price, date, wrap or bag, arrange, rotate, and merchandise bakery products in accordance with applicable policies.
- Ability to receive special orders properly and use suggestive selling methods when possible.
- Friendly, courteous, honest, open, and professional communication and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and courteous service to build customer relations.

- Build personal and department knowledge and skills through training and education of self and other team members.
- Price, date, wrap, or bag bakery products according to department and store policies.
- Recognize bakery product quality and distinguish among different bakery products.
- Fill, arrange, rotate, and merchandise bakery displays and display cases.
- Clearly and accurately price and code-date bakery products.
- Receive special orders properly and use suggestive selling methods when possible.
- Maintain attractive and appealing cases and displays to support sales.
- Maintain product quality and cost control to maximize sales and profits and minimize losses.
- Use knowledge of bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients to serve guests and answer questions.
