About The Position

The Bakery Department Clerk supports the bakery department by preparing, pricing, dating, wrapping or bagging, and merchandising bakery products. The role focuses on maintaining product quality, attractive displays, cost control, and friendly, knowledgeable customer service. The clerk works collaboratively with department and store team members, follows company policies and directives, and continues to build job knowledge through training and education. Full-time work is required, including weekends.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly, courteous customer service and build positive customer relations.
Promote department and store morale through friendly, professional, honest, and open communication.

Build knowledge and skills through training and education for oneself and other team members.
Price, date, wrap, or bag bakery products according to department and store policies.
Recognize product quality and distinguish among different bakery products.
Fill, arrange, rotate, and merchandise bakery displays and display cases.
Clearly and accurately price and code-date bakery products.
Receive special orders properly and use suggestive selling methods when possible.
Maintain attractive and appealing cases and displays to support sales.
Maintain product quality and control costs to maximize sales and profits and minimize losses.
Know bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients to assist customers and answer their questions.
