About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a customer-focused Bakery Clerk to help keep the bakery department operating smoothly and provide a welcoming experience for customers. The role includes preparing and replenishing products, helping customers at the bakery counter, and maintaining product freshness and department cleanliness. Prior experience is not required; training and support are provided. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy bakery environment.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service.
Help customers find products, reach items, carry heavy purchases, and place orders at the bakery counter.
Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods, including pulling products from the cooler or freezer for baking.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Check in and put away products, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Comply with the dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
