About The Position

The Bakery Department Clerk supports the bakery department by serving customers courteously and helping maintain attractive, well-stocked product displays. The role involves handling bakery products according to store policies, maintaining product quality and cost control, and helping guests with product information and special orders. The clerk is expected to communicate professionally, follow company policies and directives, and contribute to a collaborative, productive department through ongoing learning and training.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty accurately while maintaining a high level of productivity.
Knowledge of bakery products, descriptions, and ingredients, or ability to develop that knowledge.
Ability to price, date, wrap, and bag bakery products in accordance with store policies.
Ability to recognize product quality and distinguish among bakery products.
Ability to fill, arrange, rotate, and merchandise displays and cases.
Ability to communicate in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
Ability to work collaboratively with others.

Price, date, wrap, and bag bakery products according to department and store policies.

Fill, arrange, rotate, and merchandise bakery displays and display cases.
Clearly and accurately price and code-date bakery products.
Receive special orders properly and use suggestive selling methods when possible.
Maintain attractive cases and displays to support sales.
Maintain product quality and cost control to maximize sales and profits and minimize losses.
Know bakery items, their descriptions, and ingredients to serve guests and answer questions.
