About The Position

The Bakery Department Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in the success of the bakery department and the overall store. This position requires a strong leader who can ensure accuracy, maintain high productivity, and foster positive customer relations and team morale. The Assistant Manager will assist in the planning, organization, and direction of department activities, including costing, production planning, and personnel development. They are responsible for teaching all bakery production fundamentals, maintaining department security, and staying aware of competitive activity. Effective communication and coordination with other departments are essential for a smooth flow of products and services. The role also involves maintaining adequate department records and demonstrating sound judgment to protect the company's interests.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years retail experience.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills.
  • Excellent guest service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop others.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and task with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
  • Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
  • Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.
  • Comply with all company policies, programs and directives as specified in the Code of Conduct.
  • Provide professional examples for other store team members to follow.
  • Assist in the planning, organization, and direction of the activities of the Bakery Department.
  • Know and have the ability to cost out all material to determine proper retails.
  • Know and have the ability to do a master production sheet.
  • Aid in the development and growth of all department personnel by ensuring regular implementation of company training, evaluation, and counseling procedures.
  • Possess sufficient knowledge and ability to teach others all fundamentals of bakery production, including mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, frying and finishing.
  • Assist in maintaining effective department security in compliance with company policy and directives.
  • Maintain an awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing areas at all times as it relates to the Bakery Department.
  • Maintain awareness and concern for the company's interest and investment at all times through the regular practice of sound, honest judgment.
  • Maintain a high level of coordination and communication with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of products and service throughout the store and within the bakery operation.
  • Maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times.
