About The Position

The Bakery Assistant Department Manager is a full-time position at the Lititz Pike Fresh Foods location, paying $21.00 an hour. The role requires flexible availability during the day, evening, and weekends. The assistant manager functions as a working manager, performing tasks needed to support the smooth operation of the bakery division and is ready to assume the Department Manager’s responsibilities when necessary. Requirements

Previous managerial and bakery experience.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, and volume.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Work around kitchen equipment and regularly be exposed to hot temperatures.
Flexible availability during day, evening, and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

Devise merchandising game plans and plan-o-grams for the department in conjunction with the Buying team.
Understand retail label systems and communicate with Scan, General Management, and/or Buying teams to ensure correct pricing.
Assign duties to team members and schedule breaks, work hours, and vacations according to business needs and upcoming store events.
Train team members in store policies, department procedures, product knowledge, and job duties to support productive and safe work.
Supervise and perform departmental inventories to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
Assume the Department Manager’s job responsibilities when necessary.
Communicate with Buying and General Management teams about merchandising, new product implementation, and appropriate pricing, and promptly follow through on directions.
Coordinate vendor invoices, SKH invoices, and inter-company transfers daily to ensure timely billing.
Work as a manager while performing tasks necessary for smooth operation of the division.
Use knowledge of current inventories and ordering systems to assist with ordering supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.
Maintain and operate departmental equipment.
