About The Position

The Bakery Clerk proofs and bakes unfinished bakery goods according to product handling information, using ovens and other equipment. The role unpacks bakery goods from the freezer and displays quantities guided by bakery production charts and safe handling and storage instructions. The clerk packages and decorates baked goods, helps customers with questions and special orders, and maintains bakery product freshness, quality, pricing, cleanliness, and safety. The position may also involve duties in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Ability to move about, bend, handle, pull, reach, push, or stoop as needed.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects over 50 pounds may need to be lifted and moved with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions and recommend bakery items; answer member calls and take special orders.
• Proof and bake unfinished bakery goods according to product handling information, using ovens and other equipment.
• Use bakery production charts to guide production and display quantities, and gather products for the next business day.
• Package freshly baked goods, including cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, cakes, and other items as needed.
• Unpack bakery goods from the freezer and display appropriate quantities.
• Decorate special-order or case products.
• Rotate and store bakery products according to food-safety, freshness, and product-handling policies and procedures.
• Receive, inspect, and store bakery shipments.
• Ensure products are fresh and meet company quality standards; check daily for out-of-date products and follow salvage and stale-product procedures.
• Generate labels and price tickets, perform price checks when needed, and ensure items are accurately priced.
• Clean and sanitize bakery equipment, display fixtures, and food surfaces, including ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, display racks, and tables.
• Operate and handle bakery equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and support compliance.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Deliver service excellence, address and de-escalate member concerns, and help ensure a safe and positive member experience.
• Work collaboratively and respectfully with team members, maintain a friendly and positive attitude, and contribute to daily club standards.
• Understand how to access and read department production and/or financial performance reporting and how consistent execution can affect the business.
