About The Position

The Bakery Clerk proofs and bakes unfinished bakery goods according to product handling information, using ovens and other equipment. The role unpacks bakery goods from the freezer and displays appropriate quantities based on production charts, while following safe handling and storage instructions. The clerk packages and decorates bakery items, assists members with questions and special orders, and maintains product freshness, accurate pricing, cleanliness, and safety standards in the bakery department. Team members are also expected to follow club policies, provide friendly member service, work collaboratively, and maintain regular, predictable attendance.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Ability to move about the work area and occasionally bend, handle, pull, reach, push, or stoop.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects over 50 pounds may need to be moved with assistance.
• Work in an indoor environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers, and possible frequent exposure to cleaning agents.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions about bakery items, recommend products, respond to member calls, and take special orders.
• Proof and bake unfinished bakery goods according to product handling instructions, using ovens and other equipment.
• Use bakery production charts to guide production and display quantities, and gather products for the next business day.
• Package freshly baked goods, including cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, and cakes.
• Unpack bakery goods from the freezer and display appropriate quantities based on production chart recommendations.
• Decorate special-order or case products.
• Rotate and store bakery products according to food safety, freshness, and product handling policies and procedures.
• Receive, inspect, and store bakery shipments.
• Check products daily for expiration and follow salvage and stale-product policies and procedures.
• Generate labels and price tickets, perform price checks when necessary, and ensure items are accurately priced.
• Clean and sanitize bakery equipment, display fixtures, and food surfaces, including ovens, utensils, refrigerated cases, display racks, and tables.
• Operate and handle bakery equipment safely and according to applicable policies and procedures.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and support their application and compliance.
• Provide service excellence, address and de-escalate member concerns, and help maintain a safe and positive environment.
• Work as part of a team to maintain club and department standards, including stocking, promotional plans, signage, cleanliness, and organization.
• Access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for the department.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
