• Build and expand the data platform and services
• Help identify the best technologies for evolving data needs
• Collaborate with the product team to specify and deliver user-facing features
• Monitor and improve data pipeline performance
• Actively participate in code reviews
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes

• Proven experience and fluency in a JVM or functional language
• Experience building data platforms (e.g. using Flink, Kafka, DataFlow, Hadoop, Spark)
• Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and empathy
• Ability to write code that can be easily understood by others, with an eye towards maintainability
• High bar for working with production systems
• Value high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices
