The Back Office Technician performs a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The position prepares patients for examination and assists optical professionals in providing eye treatment. The technician helps maintain a positive and professional environment, supports patient flow and documentation, and follows applicable company policies and regulatory requirements. Duties may vary by clinic, and management may assign additional responsibilities. This is primarily an office-based position with controlled temperatures, limited direct exposure to hazardous physical substances, and usually low-to-moderate noise. Travel between offices is required, and some clinics may require driving patients in a company-provided vehicle. The role involves regular sitting, standing, walking, handling, reaching, seeing, talking, and hearing; frequent lifting or carrying of materials typically weighing less than 20 pounds; occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, or crouching; and using finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, and other standard office equipment. The employee must not engage in activities constituting the practice of ophthalmology where prohibited by law or interfere with the clinician-patient relationship. Clinicians retain sole responsibility for professional services provided to patients.
