Automotive Technician with Van Nuys Kia
About The Position
Van Nuys Kia is offering skilled and experienced military Veterans the opportunity to begin a career as a Kia Certified Service Technician through the Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP), established by Kia America, Inc. The role is full-time employment with a participating, independently owned and operated Kia Retailer—not with KUS or ERS. Employment decisions are made by the specific Kia Retailer and are conditional on meeting eligibility, skill, and experience requirements for VTAP. The position involves diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Kia vehicles and their systems. Technicians complete repair and warranty request orders according to Kia and Retailer policies, test-drive vehicles, use Kia diagnostic strategies and specialized equipment, and complete services and repairs promptly while communicating with the shop foreman and service advisor. The apprenticeship is a one-year, competency-based, GI Bill-approved program for Veterans that leads to Kia Service Technician certification.
Requirements
- Honorable discharge.
- Valid driver's license from any state with a clean driving record.
- Experience in a technical or mechanical field.
- Willingness to complete and pass drug screening and background checks.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair Kia vehicle engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical components.
- Complete repair orders and warranty request orders in accordance with established Kia and Retailer policies and procedures.
- Test-drive vehicles and analyze, diagnose, and repair components and systems using Kia diagnostic strategies, special equipment, and tools.
- Perform services, diagnostics, and repairs in a timely fashion.
- Communicate with the shop foreman and service advisor to promote an optimal customer experience.
