About The Position

U-Haul is hiring a Preventive Maintenance Technician to maintain its fleet of Ford and GMC trucks and other field vehicles. The technician uses U-Haul’s proprietary technology to assess and care for vehicles, with support, tools, and opportunities to learn from experienced team members. U-Haul offers a Technician Training Program with classes from Ford, GMC, and U-Haul. Tools are provided for preventive maintenance technicians. The position is located at 6566 N Owyhee Storm Ave, Meridian, Idaho 83646. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. The position is not open to nicotine product users in Idaho, consistent with the company’s stated hiring practice.

Requirements

Driver’s license.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work both as part of a team and individually.
Regular attendance.
Ability to work safely and remain alert.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., assisted or unassisted.
Ability to move frequently, stand, sit, and move beneath equipment.

Nice To Haves

Basic mechanical aptitude.
Repair experience.

Responsibilities

Secure trucks on lifts and ramps.
Lubricate suspensions, perform oil changes, and replace minor parts.
Perform tire and brake maintenance.
Occasionally road-test vehicles.
Use a proprietary electronic pre-inspection checklist.
Provide assistance in additional areas as necessary, following the supervisor’s directives and guidance.
