Preventive Maintenance Technician
About The Position
U-Haul is hiring a Preventive Maintenance Technician to maintain its fleet of Ford and GMC trucks and other field vehicles. The technician uses U-Haul’s proprietary technology to assess and care for vehicles, with tools provided by the company. U-Haul offers on-the-job learning and a Technician Training Program with Ford, GMC, and U-Haul classes. A paid hands-on working interview is available, and the posting offers a $100 hiring bonus. The role involves manual labor and requires working safely and staying alert. Protective clothing or gear, such as masks, safety shoes, goggles, gloves, or shields, may be required. Team members may also be asked to assist in additional areas as needed, following their supervisor’s directions.
Requirements
- Driver’s license.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude; repair experience is preferred.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and individually.
- Regular attendance.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, assisted or unassisted.
- Ability to move frequently, stand, sit, and move beneath equipment.
- Ability to work safely and remain alert; protective clothing or gear may be required.
Nice To Haves
- Repair experience.
- Interest or skills in performing preventive maintenance on Ford and GMC trucks.
Responsibilities
- Secure trucks on lifts and ramps.
- Lubricate suspensions, perform oil changes, and replace minor parts.
- Perform tire and brake maintenance.
- Occasionally road-test vehicles.
- Use a proprietary electronic pre-inspection checklist.
- Assist in additional areas as necessary, following the supervisor’s directives and guidance.
