About The Position

U-Haul is seeking a Preventive Maintenance Technician to maintain its fleet of Ford and GMC trucks and trailers. The technician uses U-Haul’s proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles, with tools provided by the company. The role offers on-the-job learning and opportunities to develop through U-Haul’s Technician Training Program, including Ford and GMC training classes. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. The position is located at 6751 FM 78, San Antonio, Texas 78244. A paid hands-on working interview is offered, along with a $100 hiring bonus.

Requirements

• Driver’s license.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and individually.
• Regular attendance.
• Ability to work safely and remain alert.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., assisted or unassisted.
• Frequent movement, standing, sitting, and moving beneath equipment.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Mechanical repair experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Secure trucks on lifts and ramps.
• Lubricate suspensions, perform oil changes, and replace minor parts.
• Perform tire and brake maintenance.
• Occasionally road-test vehicles.
• Use a proprietary electronic pre-inspection checklist.
• Assist in additional areas as necessary, following the supervisor’s directives and guidance.
