About The Position

U-Haul is hiring a Preventive Maintenance Technician to help maintain its fleet of Ford and GMC trucks. The technician uses U-Haul’s proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles, performing routine preventive maintenance with support, tools, and training provided by the company. The role is suitable for people entering the industry as well as those with vehicle repair experience, and offers opportunities to develop through U-Haul, Ford, and GMC training.

Requirements

Driver’s license.
Basic mechanical aptitude.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work both as part of a team and individually.
Regular attendance.
Ability to work safely and remain alert.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, assisted or unassisted.
Frequent movement, including standing, sitting, and moving beneath equipment.
Legally authorized to work without requiring employer sponsorship.
Applicants in Alabama must not use nicotine products, consistent with applicable state law.

Nice To Haves

Vehicle repair experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Secure trucks on lifts and ramps.
Lubricate suspensions, perform oil changes, and replace minor parts.
Perform tire and brake maintenance.
Occasionally road-test vehicles.
Use a proprietary electronic pre-inspection checklist.
Willingly assist in additional areas as needed, following the supervisor’s directives and guidance.
