About The Position

U-Haul is hiring a Preventive Maintenance Technician to maintain its fleet of Ford and GMC trucks and other field vehicles. The technician uses U-Haul’s proprietary technology and electronic pre-inspection checklist to assess vehicles, complete preventive maintenance, and make repairs based on pre-inspection repair lists. U-Haul provides the tools needed for the role and offers technician training through Ford, GMC, and U-Haul classes. The position offers opportunities for career growth and advancement.

Requirements

Driver’s license.
Basic computer skills.
Communication skills.
Ability to work both as part of a team and individually.
Regular attendance.
Basic mechanical aptitude; repair experience is preferred.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
Ability to move frequently, stand, sit, and move beneath equipment.
Ability to work safely and remain alert; protective clothing or gear may be required.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Basic mechanical aptitude and repair experience.

Responsibilities

Secure trucks on lifts and ramps.
Lubricate suspensions, perform oil changes, and replace minor parts.
Repair fleet equipment based on pre-inspection repair lists.
Work with a team to complete preventive maintenance repairs on 45 trucks per week.
Perform tire and brake maintenance.
Occasionally road-test vehicles.
Use a proprietary electronic pre-inspection checklist.
Provide assistance in additional areas as needed, following the supervisor’s directives and guidance.
