Auto Damage Trainee
About The Position
As a Field Auto Damage Trainee at GEICO, you will help customers after an accident by inspecting and assessing vehicle damage, estimating repair costs, negotiating equitable settlements, and working with body shops, rental companies, and parts providers. The role involves consulting with people involved in claims, reviewing insurance contracts, inspecting vehicles, writing estimates, managing rental cars, and resolving customer concerns. The position is field-based in the Buffalo, New York area, with an assigned GEICO fleet vehicle; it is not remote. Training includes three weeks of required hands-on experience at GEICO’s Ashburn, Virginia training facility and two weeks at a field training center in New York, Texas, or California, supported by mentors. Licensing and continuing education are provided at no cost.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license that meets company underwriting guidelines required.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, problem-solving, and empathy skills.
- Ability to adapt, pay attention to detail, prioritize, and multitask across platforms.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Customer-facing experience preferred.
- Experience in high-volume call centers with KPIs and measurable goals preferred.
- Active adjuster’s license preferred; training and exam fees are provided.
- College degree preferred.
Responsibilities
