About The Position

DARCARS Collision Center of Lanham is hiring an Auto Body Shop Estimator. The role inspects and appraises customer vehicles to determine repair costs for damage billed to an insurance claim or directly to the customer. The Estimator works with customers and insurance companies to support a seamless repair process and provide excellent customer service.

The position also includes reviewing damage and repair work, explaining estimates and expected vehicle return timing, managing insurance claims, and preparing final invoices. Employees may be asked to perform other duties as directed by a supervisor. Employment is at-will, and offers are contingent on successfully passing background screening.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of previous automotive estimator experience.
• Knowledge of major insurance program protocols and ability to upload estimates and images in accordance with those standards.
• History of I-CAR or other industry training.
• High school degree or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including background screening.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience as an estimator is highly preferred.
• Automotive certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Examine customer vehicles for structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage.
• Estimate repair costs, including supplies, parts, and labor.
• Calculate customer payments, including deductibles for repaired items.
• Manage customers’ claims by obtaining estimates from insurance companies and reviewing them with insurance adjusters.
• Explain estimates and expected vehicle return timing to customers.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks.
• Conduct spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
• Reconcile and prepare final invoices that match approved estimates.
