About The Position

This is a posting to gather a pool of qualified applicants for the academic year 2026-2027. Openings are face-to-face/in person. The role involves teaching and non-teaching assignments, demonstrating effective performance of duties and responsibilities. This includes showing currency and depth of knowledge in the discipline, patience, fairness, and promptness in evaluating student work. The position requires sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of individual students and their diverse learning styles. Effective written and oral communication, organizational skills, and sound judgment in following college policy are essential. For teaching assignments, effective teaching methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter are expected, encouraging a variety of pedagogical approaches. For non-teaching assignments, responsibilities include communication and coordination, quality of work, and potentially program development, budget planning, program leadership, and collegial governance. Ensuring currency and appropriateness of curriculum, course outlines, and written materials is crucial. Communication skills, computational skills, critical thinking, and cultural diversity must be incorporated into assignment materials. Adherence to state and federal regulations is required. Additional responsibilities may include participation in peer mentoring and evaluation, meeting contractual obligations such as advising and maintaining office hours, and demonstrating responsibility in fulfilling division/department obligations. Participation in professional growth activities and providing leadership through professional organizations, college committees, and curriculum development is encouraged. Collaboration with colleagues to provide an educational program and environment that supports student success, and implementation of the college philosophy and mission statement are key. Participation in program review and accreditation processes is also expected. Professional conduct includes promoting and defending intellectual inquiry, valuing diverse opinions, respecting the college community and profession, and promoting a non-discriminatory and non-harassing campus environment. Support for gender equity and cultural diversity is essential.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, OR Master's degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling, OR a Bachelor's degree in marriage and family therapy or in marriage, family and child counseling and possession of a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT)
  • AND fifteen or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work specifically related to people with disabilities, OR completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a post-secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Program or in a program dealing predominantly or exclusively with people with disabilities, OR two years of full-time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following: (A) Counseling for students with disabilities; or B) Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities, or the equivalent.
  • All degrees and units must be from regionally accredited (or equivalent) institutions of higher education.
  • For Classes III and IV, all units beyond a Bachelor’s Degree must be upper division or graduate level semester units (or equivalent) earned subsequent to the granting of the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Non-U.S. citizens who cannot provide evidence of authorization to work in the U.S. are ineligible for this position.

  • For Classes III and IV, all units beyond a Bachelor’s Degree must be upper division or graduate level semester units (or equivalent) earned subsequent to the granting of the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Nursing faculty and those faculty whose initial assignment is in disciplines the Minimum qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges identifies as “disciplines in which a master’s degree is not generally expected or available" may be credited in class placement for years of full-time, paid occupational experience.
  • Full-time, paid occupational experience as an apprentice qualifies for credit toward column placement.
  • Up to two steps may be credited to a faculty member for prior teaching experience. Maximum step placement for teaching experience is step 2.
  • Credit for college teaching experience will be computed as one step for each one year of experience.
  • Credit for high school teaching experience will be computed as follows one step for each two years of experience.
