About The Position

This is a part-time Associate Faculty position in Coaching. The role involves teaching and non-teaching assignments, requiring effective performance, currency in knowledge, and sensitivity to diverse student needs and learning styles. Faculty are expected to use effective communication and organizational skills, exercise good judgment, and adhere to college policies. For teaching assignments, this includes using challenging and appropriate teaching methods. For non-teaching assignments, it involves effective communication, coordination, program development, budget planning, program leadership, and collegial governance. The position also requires ensuring curriculum and materials are current and appropriate, incorporating essential skills like communication, computation, critical thinking, and cultural diversity. Adherence to state and federal regulations is mandatory. Additional responsibilities may include peer mentoring, meeting contractual obligations (like advising and office hours), fulfilling division/department obligations, participating in professional growth activities, and providing leadership through professional organizations, governance, committees, and curriculum development. Collaboration with colleagues to support student success and implement the college's mission is essential, as is participation in program review and accreditation. Professional conduct includes promoting intellectual inquiry, respecting the college community and profession, fostering a non-discriminatory environment, and supporting gender equity and cultural diversity.

Requirements

  • Any degree & professional experience
  • Associate Degree: 6 years or Bachelor’s Degree: 2 years
  • Unless otherwise noted the professional experience required (two years/bachelors or six years/ associate) must be directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment.
  • All degrees and units must be from regionally accredited (or equivalent) institutions of higher education.
  • For Classes III and IV, all units beyond a Bachelor’s Degree must be upper division or graduate level semester units (or equivalent) earned subsequent to the granting of the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Nursing faculty and those faculty whose initial assignment is in disciplines the Minimum qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges identifies as “disciplines in which a master’s degree is not generally expected or available” may be credited in class placement for years of full-time, paid occupational experience.
  • Full-time, paid occupational experience as an apprentice qualifies for credit toward column placement.
  • Experience as a teaching or laboratory assistant does not count towards initial salary placement.
  • Experience years as an intern paid or unpaid do not count as occupation years.
  • Up to two steps may be credited to a faculty member for prior teaching experience.
  • Maximum step placement for teaching experience is step 2.
  • Credit for college teaching experience will be computed as one step for each one year of experience.
  • Credit for high school teaching experience will be computed as follows one step for each two years of experience.
  • Non-U.S. citizens who cannot provide evidence of authorization to work in the U.S. are ineligible for this position.
  • Position requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • All foreign degree credentials must be evaluated by a third party to determine the equivalent U.S. degree and major, and the Foreign Credential Evaluation must be attached to your application before your application will be considered.
  • Evaluations should provide the name of the institution attended, a description of your credentials, the major field of study, and the U.S. equivalent for each credential.
