About The Position

This is a posting to gather a pool of qualified applicants for academic year 2026-2027. The role involves teaching and non-teaching assignments, demonstrating effective performance of duties and responsibilities. It requires currency and depth of knowledge in the discipline, patience, fairness, and promptness in evaluating student work. Sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of individual students and their learning styles are important. Effective written and oral communication, organizational skills, and sound judgment in following college policy are expected. For teaching assignments, effective teaching methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter and departmental curriculum are required, encouraging diverse pedagogical approaches. For non-teaching assignments, effective communication and coordination, quality of work, and potentially program development, budget planning, program leadership, and collegial governance are expected. The role also ensures currency and appropriateness of curriculum, course outlines, and written materials, incorporating communication skills, computational skills, critical thinking, and cultural diversity. Adherence to state and federal regulations is necessary. Additional responsibilities may include participation in peer mentoring and evaluation, meeting contractual obligations like advising and maintaining office hours, fulfilling division/department obligations, and engaging in professional growth activities. Leadership and commitment to the profession through involvement in professional organizations, collegial governance, college committees, campus activities, curriculum development, or classroom research are encouraged. Collaboration with colleagues to provide an educational program and environment supporting student success, and implementation of the college philosophy and mission statement are key. Participation in program review and accreditation processes is also required. Professional conduct includes promoting intellectual inquiry, valuing diverse opinions, respecting the college community and profession, promoting a non-discriminatory and non-harassing campus environment, and supporting gender equity and cultural diversity.

Requirements

  • For Nursing (Didactic Instruction): Master’s degree in Nursing; OR Bachelor’s degree in Nursing AND Master’s in Health Education or Health Science; OR The equivalent; OR Minimum qualifications as established by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
  • For Nursing Clinical Practice: Associate degree in Nursing AND six (6) years of direct patient care experience; OR The equivalent.
  • For Health Care Ancillaries (LVN Program): Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience; OR Bachelor’s degree AND two (2) years of professional experience; OR The equivalent.
  • Active, unrestricted California RN license (If assigned to the LVN program, may hold active LVN license as appropriate)
  • Non-U.S. citizens who cannot provide evidence of authorization to work in the U.S. are ineligible for this position.
  • All foreign degree credentials must be evaluated by a third party to determine the equivalent U.S. degree and major, and the Foreign Credential Evaluation must be attached to your application before your application will be considered.
  • All degrees and credits earned in fulfillment of minimum requirements must be from accredited institutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Placement of all associate faculty will be determined by Class (column) and Step as described below: Class 0: Faculty Intern as defined by § 53500. Class I: AA + 6 years occupational experience; and BA + 2 years of occupational experience. Class II: MA; BA + 30 units post BA; BA + 4 years occupational experience; AA + 8 years occupational experience. Class III: MA with 50 units post BA; BA + 50 units post BA; BA + 6 years occupational experience; AA + 10 years occupational experience. Class IV: MA with 70 units post BA; BA + 70 units post BA; BA + 8 years occupational experience; AA + 12 years occupational experience.
  • For all Classes, all degrees and units must be from regionally accredited (or equivalent) institutions of higher education.
  • For Classes III and IV, all units beyond a Bachelor’s Degree must be upper division or graduate level semester units (or equivalent) earned subsequent to the granting of the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Nursing faculty and those faculty whose initial assignment is in disciplines the Minimum qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges identifies as “disciplines in which a master’s degree is not generally expected or available” may be credited in class placement for years of full-time, paid occupational experience.
  • Full-time, paid occupational experience as an apprentice qualifies for credit toward column placement.
  • Experience as a teaching or laboratory assistant does not count towards initial salary placement.
  • Experience years as an intern paid or unpaid do not count as occupation years.
  • Step Placement: Up to two steps may be credited to a faculty member for prior teaching experience. Maximum step placement for teaching experience is step 2.
  • Credit for college teaching experience will be computed as one step for each one year of experience.
  • Credit for high school teaching experience will be computed as follows one step for each two years of experience.
