Auction.com is hiring a part-time Associate Auction Coordinator to represent the company at live real estate auctions, traditionally held at courthouse steps. The role involves conducting, co-hosting, and participating in auctions; interacting with bidders; completing the tasks and processes required for successful events; and educating customers about how to participate. The position serves the Lynchburg, Virginia territory, with travel of up to two hours to courthouse auctions in surrounding areas as scheduling requires. A rental car is provided for travel outside the primary territory; regular travel to event locations in a personal vehicle is also required. The Area/State Manager assigns daily auctions according to scheduling needs, so the role requires a flexible and adaptable schedule. Auctions occur Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Each auction day typically involves three to four hours of work. The expected average is six to ten hours per week, though hours fluctuate and are not guaranteed. Required in-person and Zoom training sessions and team calls are part of the role, with opportunities to earn additional compensation. The coordinator welcomes guests, collects customer information and verifies pre-auction requirements, shares knowledge of Auction.com programs and resources, and provides customer service to event attendees. The role requires accurate handling of sensitive buyer and seller information, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, maintaining equipment and materials, completing receipts and event reports, and handling funds, including cash. The coordinator also communicates and networks professionally with customers and event-site staff, including deputies, government employees, and attorneys. Regular attendance and participation in training and team calls are emphasized. Candidates should enjoy customer service and interacting with people, be comfortable leading and engaging a crowd, and be able to work independently and collaboratively. The role requires adaptability, technical troubleshooting ability, Microsoft Office proficiency, strong communication and listening skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when needed, stand for extended periods, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and regularly travel up to two hours in a personal vehicle. Prior auction experience is appreciated but not required.
