About The Position
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, leading and developing the team, and delivering exceptional client experiences while driving sales and profitability. The role includes recruiting and onboarding talent, coaching and mentoring associates, conducting performance appraisals, resolving client concerns, and building engagement through loyalty programs and personalized service. The Assistant Store Manager maintains Sephora’s operational, visual, cleanliness, policy, procedure, and brand standards while optimizing inventory and staffing resources in a fast-paced retail environment. This is an on-site, full-time salaried position at Sephora’s Bethesda Row store. The role requires availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical requirements include lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, bending and stretching to stock shelves, standing and walking the sales floor for an entire shift, working in a fragrance-filled environment, and handling and applying products to clients, with or without accommodation.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success as a retail assistant manager in fast-paced, high-volume environments, driving results and elevating team performance through hands-on leadership.
- Strong leadership and business acumen, including the ability to recruit, inspire, and develop talent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust, deliver constructive feedback, and facilitate open dialogue.
- Commitment to coaching and development through tailored mentorship, real-time coaching, and actionable feedback.
- Experience creating personalized client experiences that build loyalty while balancing operational priorities and business growth.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

- Maintain a visually inspiring and clean store environment and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and brand guidelines.
- Optimize inventory and staffing resources and adapt to changing priorities and opportunities.
