About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager with the day-to-day operation of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center thrift store in Tempe, which supports the Adult Rehabilitation Program. The role helps promote a positive shopping and donor experience and contributes to the success of the program and its participants. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Store Manager oversees day-to-day store operations and helps maintain effective service, staffing, merchandising, inventory, cash handling, safety, and loss-prevention practices. The role requires a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent), at least two years of retail management or supervisory experience, accurate POS and cash-register skills, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, and the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, customers, and donors. Candidates must pass a background check that includes criminal history and the Sex Offender Registry. This is a full-time position paying $17.50 per hour. Stores operate seven days per week, and management determines schedules. Full-time associates may be scheduled for any full-time shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, so schedule flexibility is required. The Salvation Army will comply with applicable governmental orders and contractual COVID-19 safety obligations, including mandatory staff vaccination if required, and will consider religious or medical exemption requests when available.
