About The Position

The Assistant Shop Manager helps oversee daily shop operations and delivers a positive customer experience at Take 5. The role includes leading and developing team members, running the floor, performing opening and closing procedures, and assuming the Shop Manager’s responsibilities and authority when the manager is absent. Assistant Shop Managers also perform technician duties, including oil changes, light vehicle maintenance, customer service, and payment processing. The position is based in person at the Albuquerque Unser shop.

Requirements

Gain a strong knowledge of the company’s oils and services.
Be able to maneuver in and out of a shallow, 3-foot-deep pit used to position safely under cars.
Be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, and perform activities involving holding, grasping, pulling, and turning for extended periods.
Be able to work in hot or cold weather conditions.
Remain alert and aware of surroundings.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Be able to communicate with the public.
Have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Check in with customers before they leave to ensure they had a great experience.
Assume the responsibility and authority of the Shop Manager when the manager is absent.
Run the floor by coordinating employee positions, ensuring vehicle checks are completed, and confirming customer satisfaction.
Perform opening and closing procedures.
Assist with counting and adjusting inventory.
Train and develop subordinate employees.
Model appropriate conduct and hold team members accountable.
Drain motor oil, change oil filters, and grease chassis fittings.
Wash windshields and adjust tire pressure.
Inspect and top off fluids.
Assist customers in selecting oil types and other services.
Deliver excellent verbal and written customer service.
Process payments for services performed.
Perform coolant exchanges and fill services.
Restock inventory and maintain stock levels on the floor.
Maintain cleanliness in the shop, office, and bathroom.
