About The Position

The Assistant Moving Center Manager supports the daily operations of a U-Haul center and helps deliver excellent customer service. The role may run center operations when the General Manager is absent, make decisions about allocating time and resources, and manage and assign team members. It also includes miscellaneous tasks such as installing hitches and brake controllers, along with ongoing training through U-Haul University. The position is based at 3557 Northrise Dr, Las Cruces, New Mexico. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. The role involves working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritant chemicals and may require protective gear. Physical duties include extended periods indoors and outdoors, traversing spaces, reaching for and using tools, and moving at least 50 pounds with or without assistance. U-Haul states that it will not hire or re-hire nicotine users in certain listed states, consistent with applicable state law.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
Leadership experience in any form.
Customer service experience.
Ability to work a variety of shifts.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Run the center’s daily operations in the General Manager’s absence.
Make moment-to-moment decisions to allocate time and resources to appropriate projects.
Manage and assign team members to ensure customers receive an excellent first impression and high-quality care.
Perform miscellaneous duties such as installing hitches and brake controllers.
Participate in ongoing U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
