About The Position

The Assistant Manager sets a leadership example for associates by providing helpful service to customers. Working alongside the Store Manager, this role helps establish company culture and manages the store’s daily operations. The Assistant Manager promotes Elder’s mission, vision, values, and standards throughout the store; supports associate development and performance; assists with scheduling, payroll, inventory, and merchandising; and serves as the supervisor on duty at least one to two days per week. The position also includes opening or closing the store and performing housekeeping duties as needed.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of retail experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
Regularly demonstrate Elder’s 6 E’s with customers: Ethics, Enthusiasm, Engagement, Empathy, Etiquette, and Efficiency.
Available to work some weekends and evenings.
Able to stand or walk at a fast pace throughout the shift.
Able to lift up to 80 pounds, bend, push and pull, break down boxes, and climb a ladder.

Responsibilities

Promote Elder’s mission, vision, values, and standards throughout the store.
Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and monitor associates, and recommend associate changes.
Coach associates to achieve optimal performance.
Assist with scheduling and payroll to labor standards.
Order and maintain inventory to ensure products are available for customers.
Manage inventory shrink and take steps to minimize shrinkage.
Lead associates in receiving merchandise and accurately displaying it for sale soon after delivery.
Condition shelves throughout the shift by professionally fronting merchandise and keeping shelves and displays clean, neat, and attractive.
Serve as supervisor on duty at least one to two days per week.
Perform store opening or closing duties.
Perform housekeeping as needed, including vacuuming, dusting and cleaning shelves, emptying trash, and cleaning restrooms.
Drive a forklift as needed.
